Racial and Sexual Discrimination Essay Racial and Sexual Discrimination Racial discrimination distinguishes between persons on the basis of identified racial differences while sexual discrimination is an action against an individual that would not have happened had the individual been of another sex.Gender identity or sex discrimination is treating someone in a negative manner because of their sexual identity (U.S. EEOC, 2014). This statement applies to applicants and employees. Gender discrimination can also apply to someone who has a connection with an organization or group that identifies with people of a certain sex (U.S. EEOC, 2014).One of the reasons sexual discrimination is so prevalent today is that sexual harassment has become so accepted in society and in places of employment. “Women have long been exposed to workplace harassment which involves conduct of a sexual nature or is premised on the sex of the victim” (McCann).
The problem is sexual discrimination. When thinking of discrimination, one tends to think mostly of sexism directed against women. Sexism against women has become a noticeable part of our society and it is slowly on it's way to a solution. That is only part of the problem.Sex discrimination against men is just as unlawful as sex discrimination against women. Also, it is unlawful for a woman to discriminate against another woman because of her sex, and for a man to discriminate against another man because of his sex.
